Service Experts to provide home insulation products and services

With the passage of the economic stimulus bill known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, U.S. homeowners have an opportunity to take advance of enhanced federal tax credits for energy efficiency and add up to $1,500 in extra cash to their pocket when they make qualified improvements – such as high-efficiency heating and cooling and attic insulation – to their primary residences.

To help consumers better understand the new legislation and how they can maximize their savings when making energy-efficient home improvements, Service Experts is offering free in-home consultations.  During these visits, a Service Experts home comfort advisor will provide consumers with advice for how to improve their home’s energy efficiency and lower utility bills with additional insulation, as well as information about the various types of heating and air conditioning products that qualify for the new tax credits.

“If homeowners have been putting off adding insulation or buying a new heating or cooling system, now may be the best time to go ahead and make that investment in their home given the significant savings that are available,” said Ian McKeen, Vice-President of Marketing for Service Experts. “As part of our free in-home consultation, Service Experts is committed to helping consumers make an educated decision by providing them with expert advice based on their individual needs and the current condition of their existing home comfort system.”

According to the new legislation, existing tax credits have been extended to 2010 and have been raised from 10 percent to 30 percent.  The tax credits that were for a specific dollar amount have been converted to 30 percent of the cost of the installed insulation material, and cost of qualifying heating and cooling products and installation, with the maximum credit being raised from $500 to $1,500.  Some home improvements, such as geothermal heat pumps, solar water heaters and solar panels, are not subject to the $1,500 maximum.  These new tax credits are retroactive to Jan. 1, 2009, and expire on Dec. 31, 2010.

In conjunction with the free scheduled home consultation being offered by Service Experts, a home comfort advisor will evaluate the current condition of the home’s existing insulation and heating and cooling system, its energy ratings and the life expectancy of the current system to help the homeowner determine the best available energy-efficiency options.

Consumers who are interested in a consultation to assess the current insulation levels and heating and cooling system in their home can contact Service Experts of at 1-888-432-8266 to schedule a free in-home visit.  These complimentary appointments are limited to schedule availability and are on a first-come, first-served basis.  For more information about heating, cooling and indoor air quality, or to locate a Service Experts center in your area, consumers can log onto the Service Experts Web site at www.ServiceExperts.com.
