Service Experts of Memphis mobilizes "Home Comfort Squad" to help elderly residents prepare for summer

Local Heating and Cooling Company Partners with MIFA to Provide Free Air Conditioning Tune-Ups for Elderly Residents in Need During National Indoor Comfort Week, April 23-29

Service Experts of Memphis, a local heating and cooling service company and part of the Service Experts network, today announced the launch of the Service Experts Home Comfort Squad, a community service project established to provide free air conditioning maintenance to help homeowners prepare for the hot summer months ahead. In partnership with the Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA), trained Service Experts of Memphis Home Comfort Squad technicians will provide a “Week of Service” during National Indoor Comfort Week from April 23-29 to elderly residents in the Memphis area through MIFA’s Handyman Program.  The Service Experts Home Comfort Squad will provide pre-season maintenance of homeowners’ air conditioning systems as well as indoor air quality check-ups, with an emphasis on ensuring residents’ comfort and safety are properly maintained during periods of extreme hot weather.

“With the high temperatures that are expected in Memphis this summer, it is important that we watch out for our neighbors who may be particularly susceptible to the hot weather. Our Service Experts Home Comfort Squad members have enthusiastically volunteered to provide this essential service to help elderly residents who often suffer when temperatures start to rise,” said Paul Selman, general manager of Service Experts of Memphis.

During the visits, Home Comfort Squad technicians will provide full system checks and tune-ups for all cooling equipment, as well as safety inspections to identify potential electrical hazards.

The Service Experts Home Comfort Squad will also conduct indoor air quality check-ups to identify factors such as humidity levels and evaluate the condition of the home’s ductwork.

“Part of MIFA’s philosophy is to change our community by helping to change lives, and we are thrilled to collaborate with Service Experts of Memphis to provide a safe and comfortable home environment for seniors in our community,” said Mary Wilder, director of MIFA’s Handyman Program.  “The Home Comfort Squad program will have a definite positive impact on their lives.”

The launch of the Service Experts Home Comfort Squad commemorates National Indoor Comfort Week, an air conditioning and heating industry event that highlights the impact that technological advances in heating and cooling makes on peoples lives.  The mission of the Service Experts Home Comfort Squad is to partner with charitable organizations to provide needed maintenance for air conditioning systems with an emphasis on ensuring residents’ comfort and safety during periods of extreme temperatures.
