Making A Difference In The Lives Of Our Family of Customers

When some folks think about heating and air conditioning contractors there's sometimes more than a little trepidation. That's understandable. The HVAC industry has its share of swindlers making the headlines, not unlike any other service industry. As I've said before, consumers should always check the background and financial stability of the air conditioning and heating contractor to ensure they are dealing with a reliable and professional company that properly trains and certifies their technicians with NATE testing.

However, there is a lot of good news every day that never makes the headlines. Recently, on the morning of April 3, 2009, a call came in from Rick, a Service Experts technician. He had found high Carbon Monoxide levels in a home and asked that a Comfort Adviser come out to consult with the family on the purchase of a new furnace.  Comfort Adviser Steve Kerr arrived at 10AM and was warmly welcomed by the family and their two small children.  When Steve asked them how they had heard of Service Experts they shared this story...

The homeowner was at home with a friend having coffee that day, when a knock came at the door.  Two skilled heating technicians from Rob's Albertan Service Experts, Rick and Pat had been in the neighborhood to perform a repair service when Pat noticed that the exhaust coming out of the chimney of the home across the street was quite dark, not consistent with what they would expect from a gas furnace.  The technicians decided to inform the homeowner that they felt there might be something wrong with the furnace.

They offered the homeowners a free System Inspection, which included a safety and equipment quality check, just to verify that nothing was amiss.  The technicians found 12 PPM of Carbon Monoxide in the supply plenum of the 30 year old furnace. Rick visually checked the furnace with a camera and found large gaps in the furnace heat exchangers.  He showed the homeowner the gaps and the CO readings and explained what this could mean. Rick then called Comfort Adviser Steve to discuss a solution.

The homeowner was in tears of relief. The whole family had experienced persistent flu-like symptoms for some time, including joint pain. Their doctor had been unable to help them.  Thanks to the alertness and certified training of Rick and Pat, another family may well have avoided the potentially fatal danger of Carbon Monoxide poisoning. Working together, Steve helped them choose a new High Efficiency furnace and arranged financing. The process was done by 11:30AM and the installation was scheduled and performed later that day. Their new furnace has a monthly payment of only $105, plus they expect to receive over $2700 in rebates and incentives.
