What to Do When Your Furnace Won’t Ignite

We are trudging through the last few weeks of winter but we still are relying on our furnaces, especially during cold nights. Nothing is worse than turning in at night just to find out your furnace won’t start up. If this happens to you, here are a couple things you can check yourself before your call Service Experts.

Check Air Filters

You should replace standard air filters monthly. If you fail to do so, they can end up clogged, obstructing air flow and resulting in your furnace malfunctioning.

Check Your Thermostat

Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the current room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the heating system won't turn on. Also, verify the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”

Check the Power

It may seem silly, but verify the power switch next to the heating system is “On.” Even gas heating equipment uses electricity so verify the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch has not been accidentally switched to the “Off” position.

If you check all these things and your heating system will still not start up, give Service Experts a call at (866) 963-7996 and we’ll come out and get you heating again as soon as possible.
