We are making our way through the last several weeks of winter but we still need our furnaces, especially during cold nights. Nothing is worse than going to bed at night and realizing your furnace won’t turn on. If this happens to you, here are a few things you can check yourself before calling Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing.
Check Air Filters
You should change standard air filters every 30 days. If you don’t, they can become clogged, restricting air flow and causing your furnace to malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the current room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem silly, but make sure the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas furnaces use electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch wasn’t accidently moved to the “Off” position.
If you check all these things and your furnace will still not turn on, give Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing a call at 866-397-3787 and we’ll come out and get you taken care of as soon as possible.
