Rocky Mountain Power’s Wattsmart Homes program offers cash rebates to eligible Utah residential customers on qualifying ground source heat pump installations. The program was updated effective February 27, 2026, with new offerings covering heat pumps, weatherization, and appliances.

The ground source heat pump rebate is $2,000 for a qualifying system (3.5 COP/16 EER minimum), available to residential customers on rate schedules 1, 2, or 3 in an existing single-family home where the previous primary heat source was permanently installed electric resistance heating covering at least 80% of the conditioned area. Conversions from gas, oil, wood, pellet, or propane heating don’t qualify for this rebate.

Note that the federal Section 25D Residential Clean Energy Credit, which previously covered 30% of geothermal installation costs with no dollar cap, doesn’t apply to systems placed in service after December 31, 2025.
